Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is recruiting for a SCADA Senior Communications Technician (ITP-B) to support operations as needed at various facilities and locations not limited to water distribution, drainage/wastewater and Water treatment. The SCADA technician engages with operations stakeholders, technicians, planners, contractors, analysts, administrators, and engineering clients in field instrumentation, and communications device deployments in support of operations capital project needs.

As a Sr SCADA Technician, your day-to-day work consists of team collaboration in a culturally diverse setting where professionalism and mutual respect are expected to help promote a safe and inclusive work environment.
Primary duties of the Sr SCADA Technician are to support the operation as needed by addressing instrumentation and communication outages for a 24/7 operation. The Sr SCADA Technician is expected to work as needed in compensated after hour callout and standby rotations. The Sr SCADA technician coach’s junior technicians in complex technical tasks supporting instrumentation and communication device deployments. Sr SCADA technicians also work closely with maintenance planners and supervisors to schedule instrumentation maintenance and internal operations projects.
The Sr SCADA technician takes and generates formal intake on behalf of the clients when necessary to support planning initiatives and maintain work transparency. The Sr SCADA Technician manages group work assignments leveraging the existing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) or Maximo asset management solution. The Sr SCADA Technician takes the lead in field testing by working together with Junior technicians and contractors supporting commissioning activities.

Experience: Three (3) years of professional experience in the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of electronic communications equipment with an emphasis on instrumentation and control.
Education: Associate degree in electrical engineering or related field of study.
Experience and Education Equivalency: Combinations of job-appropriate education, training, certification and work experience will be evaluated on an individual basis for comparability to the minimum education and experience requirements.
License, Certification and Other Requirements: Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility may be required for some positions.

Workplace Environment: This position allows for the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule. Employees will have the option to work remotely two days a week. Individual schedules will be agreed upon by the employee and their supervisor.
The full salary range for this position is $52.63 - $79.00 per hour.
