Builds and provides high-quality, end-to-end software solutions by leveraging server-side technology tools such as Java EE. Participates in process-improvement initiatives to maximize team velocity by leveraging Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools such as JIRA and Version One. Designs software capabilities for data analysis by leveraging tools such as SQL. Creates and improves User Interface (UI) components for web applications in a dynamic environment. Implements process improvements within an Agile Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) environment and by utilizing its corresponding SCRUM activities such as backlog grooming, planning sessions, daily scrums, and retrospectives. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing customized software solutions using Oracle native tools within an Oracle eBusiness Suite environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing customized software solutions using Oracle native tools within an Oracle eBusiness Suite environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing Object-Oriented Design and developing middle-tier multi-threaded applications using services and server technologies -- Java, Spring, Hibernate, RESTful Web services, Spring Boot, Microservices design patterns, Oracle SQL, Swagger, Maven, and Apache Tomcat.
- DE designing, developing, and maintaining internal and customer facing web applications and services using Angular, HTML, TypeScript, NodeJS, JavaScript, and IDE toolset IntelliJ; implementing complex UI design and the responsive web design using modern web application development; and designing wireframes to illustrate the solutions for the web applications.
- DE designing, deploying, and providing technical support to the web applications using Devops CI tools -- Jenkins, Maven, GIT, and IDE toolset (IntelliJ); performing configuration management using GIT stash; performing Test-Driven Development (TDD) using Unit/JUnit testing techniques, including Angular testing; and validating code quality and application security using Sonar.
- DE performing business and systems analysis throughout the full Software and Product Development Lifecycle (SDLC) according to Scrum methodologies in an Agile environment.
