What You Will Do:
- Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator, provides treatment services within scope of practice.
- Scope of services may include diagnostic assessment, individual therapy, and group therapy and/or observation thereof during the internship/training process.
- Patients will be assigned by supervisor and may include youth, adults, and older adults with mental health/substance use disorders as agreed upon by the intern and supervisor in alignment with professional goals and requirements of internship.
- All services with be documented within department guidelines and in compliance with rules/standards set forth by Medicaid/Medicare, ACHC, OhioMHAS, and CARF.
- Intern must have successfully completed practicum requirements.
- Intern must be invested in professional growth and responsive to supervision and constructive feedback. In the event of an emergency situation where a patient presents with potential risk of harm to self or others, intern agrees to seek supervisory assistance immediately.
- Responsibilities for the requirements of internship are assigned to the intern by the respective university. Firelands agrees to provide supervision in alignment with the requirements of the internship and as needed for orientation to Firelands and professional growth.
- Intern agrees to learn and utilize evidence-based approaches to treatment including those that promote patient engagement, empowerment, progress and overall recovery.
- Promotes patient recovery through active and collaborative patient involvement in initial and ongoing treatment planning. Fosters recovery and independence by identifying and incorporating patients’ strengths and abilities into the treatment process. Involves natural support persons, self-help resources, and other community integration activities as critical components to long-term recovery.
- Is able to effectively and efficiently utilize EMR and video-conferencing software. Utilizes work email on a daily basis keeping current with FRMC and departmental communications. For new hires, these skills are in place by the end of the probationary period. Ensures all electronic forms of communication, that include PHI, are compliant with HIPAA and 42 CFR laws regarding confidentiality.
- Payment per hour for treatment services, documentation, and agency required trainings/meetings. Time spent for activities outside of these tasks, specific to requirements from the university are excluded i.e. time spent meeting with Firelands supervisor, professor and intern to discuss progress.
What You Will Need:
- Intern is responsible to maintain licensure/temporary licensure through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board throughout the course of internship i.e. SWT, CT, LSW.
- Heart Saver/First Aid Certification and Aegis Crisis Prevention certification will be required in the first 12 months of hire.
- Intern must have successfully completed practicum requirements.
- Successful completion of a 90-day probationary period.
