Location: Shenzhen (Flexible). This role allows the flexibility to work from home, within proximity to an office location.

The Role

On this team, your primary responsibility will be to develop innovative design solutions for electromechanical assemblies, with a focus on cameras. You will work closely with both internal and external partners to design assemblies and components that meet functional requirements. The role includes early-stage development work, such as concept feasibility studies and initial validation testing, as well as later-stage development tasks, including documentation and design reviews for mass production. This work will involve both novel and modified designs.

The Mechanical Engineer will ensure that product features meet goals related to function, cost, schedule, reliability, thermal performance, and regulatory/safety compliance. The ideal candidate should have strong proficiency in using state-of-the-art CAD and analysis tools to create mechanical designs primarily composed of injection-molded plastic, stamped sheet metal, and die-cast components for high-volume mass production.

What You Will Do

• Drive the mechanical architecture, development and analysis activities for new products
• Be responsible for the overall design, analysis, documentation and functional validation of mechanical components and assemblies
• Collaborate with internal and external teams (i.e. Suppliers, partners, ID, PDM, manufacturing, operations, quality, tooling, etc.) to ensure the successful development and launch of new products
• Conduct and participate in mechanical engineering evaluation and test to validate the robustness and proper performance of new products
• Contribute to the development of mechanical tooling and production part qualification (i.e. first-article inspections, manufacturing process capabilities (Cp/Cpk), measurement gage repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R), material certifications, etc.)
• Utilize best-in-class tools to develop innovative mechanical solutions to highly complex problems
• Assist direct support personnel in all mechanical related activities throughout the product development cycle
• Enhance existing methodology and processes to ensure continuous improvement
• Assist in the audit and provide input on mechanical suppliers and external partners
• Protect company intellectual property by submitting patent applications

Skills We’re Excited About

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in mechanical and/or product design development
• Experience in the development of consumer electronics products; preferably in handheld, mobile and wireless devices with waterproof features
• Ability to work cross-functionally. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to identify and assign cross-functional tasks as they relate to the system.
• Working autonomously with minimal supervision on complex efforts for development of components and subsystems of devices.
• Ability to prioritize tasks within the complete picture of the systems development.
• DFx - Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, and Serviceability with understanding of compliance certification and safety requirement.
• Experience with Asia ODM partners and manufacturing suppliers
• Product Data Management familiarization, model-driven BOM
• Experience using FEA tools such as ANSYS or equivalent
• Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and performing statistical tolerance analysis
• Ability to travel (domestic and internationally)
• Result and deadline driven with the ability to manage various projects simultaneously in a productive and timely manner
• Ownership in designs produced
• Strong English skill both in oral and written

Bonus Points For

• Experience in sports products including helmet
• M.S. degree or above
• Thorough knowledge and experience in using Unigraphics NX solid modeling and assembly creation and Solidworks
