Cochlear is hiring for a Senior Customer Software Verification and Validation Engineer who will be accountable for ensuring the output of complex projects are delivered in high-quality and on time to our customers by planning, defining, executing, and reporting tests as required. The role has an important contribution to the product’s quality, reliability, and customer focus design experience as per approved functional and technical specifications within Cochlear Quality Management System/Regulatory framework.
This role collaborates with, V&V Engineering Manager, V&V Lead, development teams, other V&V Engineers, Product Owners, Business Analyst, Software Delivery Managers, and Quality Engineers (when applicable). The Senior V&V Engineer plans/executes the V&V plans and partners with the development teams within a squad setup whilst ensuring the high-standard regulatory/quality compliance.
Accountabilities
- Understanding the functional and technical specifications in the context of Customer Software Products’ ecosystem and wider Cochlear Products’ ecosystem
- Generate and maintain input and output documentation for all verification and validation activities
- Prepare Test Coverage Review minutes based on given testing scope within Customer Software Product releases
- Prepare frontend/backend/electronics/end-to-end test environment based on Test Coverage Review minutes / testing scope relevant to the target release as well as to ensure all test hardware are still valid for the testing activities required
- Create test cases based on planning meetings, developer’s/V&V Lead’s/Business Analyst’s/Product Owner’s/Systems inputs, new feature/function’s introduction, modification on existing feature/functions, and other relevant testing triggers
- Complete all required test executions during sprint cycle on time with high quality standards
- Ensure to execute test cases using correct hardware combinations required by test definition/Test Coverage Review minutes
- Produce V&V reports based on test activities and results and ensure the correctness and traceability of the report ready for audit activity
- Setup correct test environment (manual/automated) as required by test definitions/Test Coverage Review minutes and escalate any potential issues
Key Requirements
- Tertiary qualification in relevant field of electronics, software or software engineering
- At least 4-6 years’ experience in a full lifecycle commercial software, firmware, electronics or system testing / development environment or test automation system, delivering verification and validation for consumer facing devices in a successful product launch.
- Demonstrated experience in executing verification processes (frontend/backend/electronics/end-to-end), paying great attention to detail and meeting product quality standards. Skilled in cross-functional thinking and problem solving.
- Solid understanding of test methodologies, System/Software Integration Testing and System/Software development life cycle / V-model / automation model
- Experience in performance and functional testing, pertaining to interface testing and a test automation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with other project team members
- Knowledge on and experience with Agile development practices
- Able to make technical assessments / decisions from multiple measurements across test setups
- Capable to use digital oscilloscope and multimeter and other electronics measurement equipment
- Sound capabilities in coding/scripting language such as Python, debugging test scripts, writing test cases in pseudo code
- Experience with electronics and electronic test equipment/automation (Desirable)
- Experience with audio signal processing design or implementation (Desirable)
