Description
Position Overview:
Under the direction of the HQ quality manager, the quality engineer II is responsible for examining components from product field returns, exanimating problems at customer sites, participating in cross functional research projects to improve product quality, data collection and analysis, and evaluating/utilizing quality systems and tools to be used by the global organization. This position will work with QA, R&D, strategic business units (SBUs), and our overseas manufacturing facilities to help implement improvements and to support reporting the root cause of field issues.
Responsibilities:
Quality Engineering:
- Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective action for product, process, and customer complaint-related concerns, investigating report, create action plan for critical issues
- Develop training to build quality awareness
- Assist the quality manager by maintaining the quality management system
- Create and maintain quality documentation such as quality procedures, work instructions, control plans, reports, and quality dashboard
- Plan and Oversee Process and product quality based on the quality data
- Conduct audits, including creating audit finding reports, determining proper corrective and preventive actions, and closing out audit findings
- Leading quality improvement projects to reduce the cost of warranty and quality
- Work with QA, R&D, SBUs and overseas manufacturing to support the implementation of improvements and monitor the success
- Utilize the basic tools of Six Sigma and principles of continuous improvement to solve problems and analyze data
- Host early warning meetings that connect the design & manufacture stage to product installation & customer service stage, and provide feedback to improve the product or other processes as needed (PDCA)
- Give feedback on the troubleshooting guides for different products as needed
- Collect and analyze data from available databases to monitor product quality and manage improvement plans
- Improve current work processes and assist others when necessary
Travel and Communication:
- Travel to customer sites (both domestic & international) up to once a month
- Communicate with individuals both domestic and overseas during non-business hours
Maintain Work Practices:
- Maintain work area to 5S standards as posted in work area
- Promote a positive team atmosphere with coworkers
Marginal Job Functions:
- Other projects as assigned
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, data analysis, or related engineering
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years product design engineering, quality engineering or related engineering experience
- Experience working with SAP, CRM and other similar ERP systems
- Experience working with technical support, quality departments, and R&D to troubleshoot and document issues
- Experience with product test plan development and management
- Experience of technical writing and data analysis
- Experience working with overseas manufacturing facilities is a plus
- A quality-related ASQ certification is a plus
Other Requirements:
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook in particular, additionally Microsoft Power BI, SharePoint, Atlassian JIRA and Confluence are a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals
- Ability to manage projects to completion and lead problem-solving teams to solve issues
- Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous and often changing environment
- Ability to travel for root-cause analysis and problem-solving at customer sites
