Brief Job Description:

Junior R&D Mechanical Design Engineer creates 3D models, drawings and bill of materials (BOMS) for projects related to maintaining and improving production of longstanding Thermal products with supervision of senior and/or lead project engineers. The Mechanical Engineer helps assess and find solutions to problems that impact production, quality, procurement, marketing or other departments and participates in design reviews with customers, engineering team members and other internal work teams.

Responsibilities and Measurement Criteria with Time investment Needed on Each:

  • Create 3D models of mechanical components and assemblies from both 2D and 3D data.
  • Utilize Solid Edge, Creo or other software for documentation and drawing of products as required.
  • Designs 3D sheet metal parts and welded structural steel frames along with 3D piping/conduit from 2D layout. Create part, assembly and assembly drawings from 3D files.
  • Create, maintain and review bill of materials (BOMS) with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Provide engineering support to manufacturing during production and testing.
  • Works closely with supervision from lead project engineer(s) and/or manager.
  • Contribute to multiple ongoing projects and switch tasks when situations arise.
  • Work directly with material vendors on component sourcing and selection.
  • May oversee and advise on the design and CAD work of others as needed.
  • Participate in customer interaction.
  • Participate in group discussions and Web Meetings regarding projects.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required/ Minimum Qualifications:

  • Technical Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • No experience required.

Additional / Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in working with Solid Edge, Creo or equivalent CAD system
  • Demonstrate creative ability, accuracy, and cost effectiveness.
  • Self-starter. Ability to solve problems, take responsibility and deliver results with a spirit of innovation and strong commitment to excellence.
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office Software – such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Ability to read, interpret and produce technical drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrating ethics and integrity.
  • Basic understanding of sheet metal design, manufacturing practices and processes.
  • Detail oriented with high attention to detail and proven ability to complete tasks on schedule.
  • English – Intermediate level – Written and spoken.
  • Competences: result-oriented, team player, careful to details, flexible.
