Position: Network Engineer Expert Co-op

The team you'll be part of

You'll be a part of Nokia's global Cloud & Network Services Virtual Lab Services team.

Our team deploys and maintains over 700+ cloud nodes globally for use by Nokia’s R&D community. We provide several different types of cloud platforms, including Kubernetes and OpenStack platforms. Our diverse team installs, maintains, and supports our global R&D users. We develop best practices to share our knowledge and automated tools to assist in maintenance and advanced services. We’re constantly exploring new technologies to expand our service offerings.

Education Recommendations

Currently a candidate for a bachelor’s, master's degree, or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, or a related field with an accredited school in the US.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

As part of our team, you will contribute to:

  • Supporting network equipment, including routers, proxy servers, switches, DNS, and DHCP
  • Implement new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks
  • Help maintain our infrastructure, including dual-stack network design and management, dynamic routing protocols, load balancing
  • Implement Firewall rules
  • Work with Nokia Cloud platforms

KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proficiency in Cisco IOS 7+, Dell networking, Omni, Nuage, 77xx, switches, and routers
  • Experience with IPAM solutions
  • Strong knowledge of Software Defined Networking (SDN)
  • Solid sysadmin skillset
  • Knowledge of Ansible scripting

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Familiarity with Red Hat OpenShift (preferred) or VMware
  • Experience in Kubernetes application deployment
  • Knowledge of GCP (preferred) or other Public Cloud platforms
  • Experience with GitLab, Jenkins, Artifactory, and API/script development
