Job Responsibilities/ 工作职责 :

The Audio Test Engineer is responsible for evaluating the acoustic and electrical performance of a broad range of professional and consumer audio products, including loudspeakers, amplifiers, televisions, STBs, soundbars, laptops, mobile devices, and other audio source equipment. This role requires strong analytical skills to interpret test data, identify and resolve measurement discrepancies, and ensure precise tuning of audio products. The engineer will also be responsible for installing and validating calibration settings to ensure products meet THX performance standards and industry specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct performance testing of speakers, audio systems, and related components in a controlled acoustic environment in accordance with THX specifications and procedures.
  • Utilize specialized hardware and software to collect, analyze, and report on acoustic and electrical performance data.
  • Interpret test results, identify performance issues, and collaborate with partner design and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
  • Develop and implement custom audio tunings on partner products to ensure compliance with THX performance standards.
  • Perform listening evaluations to assess both subjective audio quality and validate results against measurement data.
  • Analyze test data and communicate results clearly to relevant parties, both within the organization and externally.
  • Liaise with partners and vendors to address technical inquiries related to THX specifications, testing protocols, and technologies.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting throughout the testing and certification process.
  • Create and update technical documentation, including test procedures and detailed performance reports, for internal and external audiences.
  • Manage test facility scheduling and oversee the tracking of products through all phases of evaluation.
  • Maintain test equipment and ensure the facility operates reliably and consistently.
  • Assist Sales and cross-functional teams with technical expertise as needed
  • Perform special projects as necessary

Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on experience with professional audio test and measurement systems, including Audio Precision, Klippel, CLIO, Listen Inc. SoundCheck, MLSSA, and/or LMS, for characterization and validation of transducers and audio signal paths
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in loudspeaker and/or audio electronics testing, including test fixture setup, measurement scripting, and data interpretation
  • Advanced understanding of acoustics, transducer behavior, enclosure tuning, and system-level audio performance metrics (design experience is a strong plus)
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering teams, product development groups, and SoC vendors to implement and validate audio tuning strategies, algorithms, and hardware configurations
  • Working knowledge of smart-amp configuration, DSP tuning, filter design, and end-to-end audio system integration
  • Strong analytical thinking and effective problem-solving abilities
  • Capable of operating independently in a lab environment, including designing and executing test plans with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent development and validation workflows, while maintaining alignment with milestone schedules and technical deliverables
  • Strong attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation skills

Education & Experience

BA/BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to respond effectively all types of inquiries. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written exchanges in Chinese and English among domestic and international clients and colleagues.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in unusual situations. Ability to use effective deductive reasoning is essential.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint or their analogs; Dropbox, OneDrive and other file-sharing utilities; common enterprise solutions supporting procurement/financial processes.
