Position: AP Specialist

Location: Birmingham, AL (On-site)

Salary: $25-28/hr

Vaco is currently in search of an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a mid-sized company, headquartered in Birmingham, AL. This position is a high volume Accounts Payable and the ideal candidate will be able to understand complex transactions, perform research on payables and possess the ability to make decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Review all accounts payable invoices for appropriate documentation and make approval prior to payment
• Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and/or payment terms
• Match invoices to checks, obtain all signatures for checks and distribute checks accordingly
• Prepare and process accounts payable checks, wire transfers and ACH payments
• Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
• Reconcile vendor statements
• Assist in month end closing
• Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
• Resolve invoice discrepancies
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• Assist with other projects as needed
• Produce monthly reports

Requirements:

• All candidates must possess a positive attitude and healthy work ethic. Additionally, all candidates should be able to work in a team environment
• Prior experience in accounting, specifically in Accounts Payable, is required, SAP experience is a plus
• Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Able to perform office computer functions (Microsoft Office Product; Windows, Excel, Word and various proprietary software programs) on a daily basis
