POSITION TITLE: Financial Analyst Intemrediary Compensation
DEPARTMENT: Corporate Accounting
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree required; Bachelor degree in accounting/finance or mathematics preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of business (back/middle office operational support) experience required.
- Knowledge of the Federated organization and systems preferred.
- Financial Analysis & Reporting experience preferred.
- Accounts Payable or similar experience preferred.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (V-Lookups, pivot tables and if statements).
- Knowledge of the mutual fund/financial services industry preferred.
MAJOR DUTIES:
ACCRUALS / PROJECTIONS / ANALYSIS
- Compute trailer expense projections for Federated Hermes and the Funds by integrating actual and anticipated payment data into the calculation and provide follow up as needed.
- Analyze trailer payments to determine the cause of variations from prior distribution cycles and recommend/apply adjustments to future projections as required.
- Collaborate with departmental personnel as well as internal business areas to ensure that applicable expense accruals are kept current and accurate, to ensure the resolution of problems and to respond to questions/inquiries as well as to enhance projection/analysis workflows and reporting to meet business needs.
- Assess client and fund events (e.g. mergers, acquisitions, etc.) to ensure inclusion in expense projections.
- Anticipate trends that may impact the accuracy of expense projections and adjust as necessary.
- Determine the appropriate attributes and data structures required to support the calculation and analysis of expenses/accruals.
- Document all information sources, assumptions and analytics utilized in the production of the calculations/analysis and assess data accuracy and completeness using various analytical techniques.
REPORTING
- Compile, validate and distribute trailer expense projection and analysis as well as payment reporting to Corporate Financial Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis and Fund Expenses and other internal business areas as required.
- Compile and disseminate trailer payment data (scheduled/ad hoc) for inclusion in reporting to the Funds’ and Federated Investors Trust Company’s Board of Directors.
- Compile and disseminate reporting summarizing the payments resulting from retroactive agreements and/or operational errors to the Corporate Disclosure Committee and Fund Treasurer as applicable.
SUPPORT APPLICATION CREATION / MAINTENANCE
- Develop and maintain support applications to be used in the calculation, analysis and reporting of corporate/fund trailer expenses.
- Establish and maintain processes, reporting mechanisms and workflows and ensure the integrity of the data produced from the applications.
- Document all information sources, assumptions and analytics utilized in the development and maintenance of applications.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as a technical expert for the department, by acquiring and maintaining the requisite knowledge of Federated Hermes’ systems. Assist the staff in understanding how internal and external developments may impact process workflows.
- Recommend business and system changes to management that will leverage technology to solve operational issues and to improve operations, reduce costs and risk exposure and/or enhance service quality to meet client/organizational needs more effectively.
- Manage projects that specifically impact financial analysis activities for the department and/or participate as a member of a multi discipline project team for the department or organization.
- Evaluate the preparation of invoices for reconciliation.
- Validate tax reportable payments for the annual tax forms.
- Collaborate with management, Lead Financial Analyst and/or Sr Financial Analyst on the development and on-going maintenance of process policies, procedures and workflows changes.
- Assist with the completion of other departmental tasks as required.
- Overtime as required.
HOURS/LOCATION:
- 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (overtime as required, flexible start time available)
- Hybrid schedule (in-office / remote)
- Warrendale Location – Warrendale, PA 15086
