Job Description:
Within the High Voltage Products Business Unit (BU), the Technology Center (TC) North America is responsible for developing and optimizing high voltage equipment for electrical substations. Our team dedicated to dead-tank high voltage circuit breakers, is at the forefront of innovation in the field of electrical power distribution and protection systems. Circuit breakers are essential components of high voltage substations, designed to manage electricity flow and interrupt it during faults or emergencies. Reporting to the R&D Team Manager, you will join a talented, highly specialized cross-functional organization, leveraging your unique technical expertise and collaboration skills in assignments related to circuit breaker testing, application cases, and the development and optimization of electro-mechanical key components.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Perform a variety of advanced technology and product development assignments, utilizing innovative techniques to enhance both new and active products, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project outcomes.
- Provide technical assistance to meet customer needs promptly and effectively. Review non-standard customer specifications, interpret requirements, and evaluate the suitability of circuit breakers for specific applications. Troubleshoot circuit breaker selection, installation, and commissioning issues, respond to technical questions, and efficiently resolve customer concerns. Implement solutions to keep products and processes updated across the business network.
- Offer technical support for electrical and mechanical testing, including the creation, review, and optimization of test reports. Assist in new supplier qualification activities and maintain technical instructions to support the cross-functional organization.
- Identify Intellectual Property (IP) risks and opportunities in your activities. Support the IP organization to manage and protect intellectual property, including invention disclosures and patent searches.
Your background
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering (EE), Electro-mechanical Engineering Technology (EMET), or a related field.
- Strong preference for candidates with a focus or work experience in electrical power systems and/or high voltage circuit breakers.
- Basic proficiency in CAD software and 3D modeling tools, such as PTC Creo or similar.
- Excellent documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Willingness to collaborate with cross-functional teams in an international environment.
