Professional Engineer - (25140711) 

This position provides mechanical engineering services to the Construction and Facilities Management Office (CFMO) of the Department of Military Affairs. 

Responsibilities include: Project management, providing mechanical design services, assessing developing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical technologies, lead and oversee the selection and installation of appropriate energy-efficient systems and technologies for Montana Army National Guard facilities, including all utilities and firing range facilities statewide. Works with architects and engineers to develop high quality construction documents for new facilities as well as maintenance and remodel projects. Provides professional engineering advice to command and administrators in order to identify and prioritize facility needs based upon safe operations and Department of Defense priorities; providing sound engineering guidance regarding building systems at DMA locations across the state. 

Managing projects that adhere to CFMO design and construction standards and collaboration with other departments within CFMO including operations and maintenance staff.

This position reports to the Design and Project Management Bureau Chief and supervises the work of professional contractors involved in design, construction and professions connected to building projects.

Must have demonstrated ability to work and engage in diverse working environments.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited Engineering program that includes coursework in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology or a closely related field, and three years of experience in project management, mechanical engineering related to building systems, and;
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in Montana.

The Department of Military Affairs may consider a training assignment for individuals who do not meet all listed qualifications.

Must have demonstrated the ability to work with, and engage in, diverse working environments within and outside of the Department of Military Affairs.

Individuals with a valid PE registration in another State that is eligible to obtain Montana PE registration through comity within 6 months of hire may be considered.

Employees in training assignments may be paid below the base pay established by the agency pay rules. Conditions of the training assignment will be stated in writing at the time of hire.

97,975.65 - 97,975.65 Yearly
