Radiation Oncology Engineer - SOM-Radiation/Oncology
The Radiation Oncology Engineer operates under minimal supervision to provide essential technical support and innovative solutions for linear accelerators and other sophisticated radiation-producing equipment. This role is pivotal in ensuring optimal performance and safety, directly impacting patient treatment efficacy and departmental productivity.
ASEE or Associate’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or directly related field and six years directly related experience maintaining and servicing medical linear accelerators or CT or MR imaging equipment. Specific experience on Varian or Elekta accelerators, or Philips and imagers is preferred. Authorized Varian, Elekta or Philips training is highly desirable.

Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, constant handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to bio-hazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, occasional bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional kneeling, occasional pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, occasional sitting, frequent standing, occasional twisting, and frequent walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more).
