South Dakota State University (SDSU) is seeking an Associate Dean and Director of the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine, and Associate Professor or Professor. Rank is contingent on support and approval of the College Tenure & Promotion Committee, University Tenure & Promotion Committee, the South Dakota Board of Regents’ Chief Academic Officer, and the South Dakota Board of Regents. This is a new position where you’ll lead a dynamic and collaborative program focused on shaping future veterinary professionals. This role combines leadership with hands-on teaching, allowing you to supervise and guide the program while sharing your expertise by developing and teaching courses. This position is located in Brookings, South Dakota and is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
The mission of the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine (PPVM) is to strengthen South Dakota’s rural economy and regional agricultural systems by educating future veterinarians and scientists to serve the region. The program is made possible through a formal cooperative agreement, in which SDSU students admitted into the Professional Program complete the first two years of their veterinary medical education at South Dakota State University and then transfer to the University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine (UMN CVM) for the final two years of study.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Associate Dean and Director is responsible for supervision, coordination, and communication for the Professional Program in Veterinary Medicine, developing and teaching specific courses within their area of expertise for the program, and ensuring that all required courses are delivered by teaching other courses when needed.
