Position Focus:

The Business Systems Analyst 3 (HRISS) plays a critical role in supporting and optimizing Yale’s HR technology ecosystem, ensuring alignment with faculty and staff administrative needs. This position serves as a key liaison between HR, IT, and faculty administration teams, driving process improvements, system configurations, and innovative solutions for Workday Core HCM, Recruiting, Learning, Compensation, Payroll, Benefits, Leaves, Time, and Absence Management.

The incumbent will document system/process requirements, define scope and objectives, and create specifications that drive system development and implementation. As a technical-functional expert, the role ensures seamless HR technology operations while providing insights into industry best practices.

Key responsibilities:

Partner with HR, faculty administration, and IT stakeholders to assess user needs and design solutions that enhance HR operations, ensuring alignment with Yale’s faculty administration processes.

You will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating user needs to create solutions that support the functional areas of Core HCM, recruiting, academic appointments, compensation, payroll, benefits, and leaves management.

You will document system requirements, define scope and objectives, and liaise between HR and business users across the University.

Your role will include leading segments of larger projects and fully leading small to medium projects, developing comprehensive system solutions and test plans, and contributing to process improvements.

You will take ownership of the scope definition and overall documentation process for the projects you lead, ensuring clarity and alignment with business objectives. In addition, you will be responsible for conducting impact analysis for proposed system changes.

As a BA3, you will lead advanced configuration and customization of HR systems, ensuring that solutions meet the complex needs of the business. You will independently troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex system issues and provide support to ensure system performance and integrity. You will also support integration efforts between HR systems and other enterprise platforms to enhance faculty hiring, appointments and lifecycle management.

You will also play a critical role in understanding the industry landscape and trends relevant to the area you support and the touchpoints. You will apply this knowledge to ensure system configurations and business solutions align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

In addition to your day-to-day responsibilities, you are expected to engage in ongoing self-development actively. You will stay current with emerging HR technologies, industry trends, and advancements in platforms such as Workday to enhance your capabilities and contribute more effectively to your team. This may include obtaining relevant certifications, attending professional development workshops, or pursuing additional learning opportunities that keep your skills up-to-date and aligned with the needs of the business.

You will be a key contributor to data validation and reporting initiatives, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of data across HR systems. As part of your role, you will guide and or assist in the development and execution of reports and data analyses to meet HR and business objectives within the area you support.

You will collaborate closely with HR clients, faculty administrative offices and other stakeholders across the University to ensure smooth communication and implement system enhancements, maintaining the stability and integrity of HR technology solutions.

You will mentor junior analysts, guiding them through best practices in system configuration, documentation, and testing.

You will participate in at least one HRISS initiative, helping to drive improvements or innovations in HR technology processes.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Prior experience configuring and supporting Workday is a plus; Experience with Workday HR modules (e.g., Core HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll) is preferred.
