We are seeking an individual to join our firmware team development Engineering team at our research and design center in Longmont, CO. This group focuses of pre and post silicon firmware integration and product staging and actively engages in product support.

About the role - you will:

  • Develop, Debug and maintain firmware for current and future HDD storage products for a high-quality customer experience. Your involvement will include failure analysis, root cause failures with multi-threaded architectures, stack and kernel operations, non-volatile recording of critical events and is critical to the entire design of disc drive firmware and storage devices. Your involvement will include working with security engineering architecture. Developing and Deploying Storage Security Products.
  • Support teams across the organization to build highly optimized firmware designs for storage products. The candidate should possess software programming and debugging skills with the use of hardware and software tools, and test equipment to deliver high quality, high-performance firmware. 

About you:

The successful candidate will be part of Firmware Storage and Devices team in Longmont, CO. The candidate should demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining architecture and firmware solutions. Normally, they receive little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.

Your experience includes:

  • Demonstrated programming capabilities in one or more languages such as C, C++, assembly, Python, etc.
  • Demonstrated problem solving capabilities and able to readily applies critical thinking.
  • Demonstrated communication skill and ability to articulate technical issues.
  • Willingness to learn and achieve results through a multi-disciplined, worldwide organization
  • Experience of micro-controller and its interaction with firmware.
  • Experience using firmware and hardware development tools (emulators, trace, version control, oscilloscopes, compilers, linkers, and analyzers).
  • Self-motivated and be able to comprehend and apply new knowledge quickly and effectively on the job.
  • Demonstrated communication skill and ability to articulate technical issues.
  • Experience in successful deployment of emerging market products
  • Willingness to learn and achieve results through a multi-disciplined, worldwide organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 3+ years experience, or master's degree in Engineering 

You might also have:

  • Experience and knowledge of cryptography with strong interest in its industrial application.
  • Strong interest in crypto usage and its application optimization in areas such as post quantum computing etc.
  • Familiarity with security and storage security protocol standards (TCG, NIST, ISO, CC, FIPS, etc.) will be added advantage
  • Demonstrated solving real world security problem(s) would be an added advantage
  • Experience and knowledge of storage drives will have added advantage
  • Working experience on various asymmetric encryption algorithms.

Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base salary range for this position: $68,474.00 - $115,500.00. Actual salary range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
