Why Sarepta? Why Now?
The promise of genetic medicine has arrived, and Sarepta is at the forefront. We hold leadership positions in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) and limb-girdle muscular dystrophies (LGMDs), and we currently have more than 40 programs in various stages of development in gene therapy, RNA and gene editing. In 2023, we launched our fourth therapy and the first ever gene therapy to treat Duchenne.
We’re looking for people who see unlimited potential in themselves and who are motivated by an unwavering commitment to patients.
What Sarepta Offers
At Sarepta, we care deeply about all the people in our community and believe in the importance of supporting them in all aspects of their lives. We aspire to maintain a culture that acknowledges people bring their whole selves to work, and we will strive to help everyone in our community integrate their work and personal lives while maintaining productivity.
The Importance of the Role
The Patient Affairs team works with rare disease communities (including advocacy leaders, individuals affected by rare diseases, and their families) to foster important mutual understanding as Sarepta develops therapies that may one day be approved for use by a given population. The individual selected for this internship will have exposure to rare disease patient advocacy from the biotechnology industry’s perspective. You will learn from the perspective of people who are impacted by rare diseases and will see how these insights and perspectives are woven into decision-making throughout drug development. You will learn about some of the guidelines that shape our efforts as a company, and how this position can help drive valuable engagement along the drug development continuum. As an intern, you will be supporting the analysis of qualitative community insights, and you will assist in creating efficiencies to communicate insights across Sarepta functions. The ideal candidate will leverage their social science and computer science capabilities by helping the team find new and unique ways to categorize and share the invaluable insights offered by members of the rare disease communities we face.
