Position Summary
Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) is engaged in a multi-year initiative to increase the breadth and scope of its faculty in the biomedical sciences and engineering. We are inviting applications for multiple tenured/tenure-track associate or full professor faculty positions in biomedical engineering, bioengineering or associated biological and biomedical sciences to be part of one or more departments, including Intelligent Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Informatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
We welcome candidates specializing in computational, theoretical, experimental, or translational research to characterize, understand, control, and engineer living systems. We are particularly interested in candidates working in the following areas related to biomedical engineering, bioengineering, and associated biological and biomedical sciences, including:
Candidates should complement one or more of Indiana University’s existing strengths as well as new initiatives in synthetic biology, chemical biology, biohealth informatics, and toxicology. Candidates interested in entrepreneurial activity are encouraged.
Successful applicants will be expected to engage in collaborative and transdisciplinary teaching and research. These are full-time 10-month appointments, with a preferred start date of August 1, 2025, although alternative dates can be negotiated. For full consideration, apply by November 30th, 2024. Responsibilities: Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) is seeking dedicated Tenured/Tenure-Track faculty members who will contribute to enhancing the academic distinction of their departments. Key responsibilities include:
1. Research Excellence: Develop and maintain a dynamic research portfolio. This involves securing significant external research funding, leading cutting-edge research as a principal investigator, and collaborating effectively with other researchers.
2. Teaching and Mentorship: Engage in teaching and mentoring a diverse student body at both undergraduate and graduate levels, focusing on expanding the educational opportunities available for Indiana University students.
3. Service and Engagement: Contribute actively to the department, school, and university through service roles. Involvement with professional communities and/or local community initiatives is expected.
These positions are based at the IUB campus in Bloomington, Indiana. Faculty members are expected to work on campus to fully engage with the department, school, campus, and community.

Qualifications: Candidates must possess a doctoral degree or equivalent in engineering, physics, biophysics, mathematics, biology, chemistry, biomedical science, medicine, computer science or related disciplines from an accredited institution. Candidates should show rank-appropriate achievements in research, teaching and service.
