Advertised Job Summary* Two positions are open.* The Academic Success Instructor will support the overall academic mission of the Law School by assisting with the design and implementation of an academic success and bar preparation program that encourages a high level of academic performance for all students. The Instructor will work with the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Directors of Academic Success and Bar Preparation, and faculty to assist in the development of a comprehensive program that emphasizes the development of analytical, writing, time-management, and other skills needed for success in law school and on the bar exam. Job responsibilities will include teaching workshops and courses on academic success and bar preparation topics; recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising 2L and 3L student tutors; identifying and communicating with students who should be included in the Law School’s academic success and bar preparation program; and developing programs to strengthen academic success and bar performance.
Required Education and ExperienceJ.D. or equivalent degree from an ABA-approved law school. The employee must have a strong academic record that demonstrates potential for successfully teaching in a law school academic success and bar preparation program. The employee must have 2-4 years relevant practical experience in private legal practice or public sector work.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of law school academic success and Bar Preparation programs. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency of students, faculty, and staff. Ability to identify, develop, and implement programs that benefit the law school. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals. Teaching experience is a plus.
