Summary of Job Duties:

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Mechanical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology beginning January 2025. The successful candidate will develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses and laboratories in the Mechanical Engineering. The successful candidate may be required to teach in Mechanical Engineering Technology program. This includes a teaching load of 9 instructional units each semester. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/ institutional policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering;
• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline (Degree must be from an accredited university). ABD may be considered;
• Demonstrated strong English communication skills.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

• Prior teaching engineering courses;
• Experience in teaching in a hybrid or on-line environment;
• Expertise in engineering software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Ansys, MATLAB;
• Post-doctoral or industrial experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Mechanical Engineering and
• advanced graduate courses in their research areas;
• Teach courses in areas of Robotics, Mechatronics, Acoustics, Vibrations, Statics, Dynamics;
• Machine Design, Solid Modeling, and Mechanical Engineering labs;
• Teaching assignments may require teaching day and /or evening classes as needed;
• Advise undergraduate and graduate students;
• Supervise graduate research projects;
• Establish and maintain an externally funded research program that includes the support of
• graduate and undergraduate students;
• Be actively engaged in research and professional development – Professional activities
• include participating in professional meetings and workshops; and establishing appropriate
• relationships with industry;
• Serve on program, school, college, and university committees; and engage in other service
• and research activities;
• Publish scholarly articles in conference proceedings and technical journals;
• Assist with activities related to ABET accreditation activities in the school for the Mechanical
• Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs;
• Participation in outreach activities;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Demonstrated ability to develop and teach courses and laboratories in Mechanical
• Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Technology;
• Demonstrated strong English verbal and written communication skills;
• Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-
• Cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and
• minorities;
• Ability to collaborate with existing faculty.
