Hearsay is seeking a proactive Senior Software Engineer to join our growing Budapest Engineering Team!

With hands-on experience in building and deploying industry-leading solutions to continue helping us raise the bar in our product offering. As a Senior Software Engineer at Hearsay, you’ll have the opportunity to influence, architect, and release various end- to-end solutions solving the needs of both end users and internal teams. This is a distributed team, so being comfortable collaborating in a remote environment is critical.

This role includes:

  • Driving development and improvement of Hearsay functionality, APIs and databases across Engineering to enable various teams’ success.
  • Owning large parts of critical codebases and becoming a domain expert for your team.
  • Working with engineers, product owners, and UI/UX designers to consistently deliver updates and improvements in a continuous release cadence.
  • Thoughtfully scaling systems to respond quickly to sustained usage growth.
  • Maximizing the value delivered by driving best practices across our technology and team processes
  • Opportunities to travel a few times a year to meet with coworkers in various locations in North America.

You have:

  • 4+ years of software development experience with big data processing systems or online services.
  • Extensive experience working across the technical stack, developing modern web apps, and building systems that scale.
  • Familiar with AWS and its key services or deep understanding of equivalent industry tools
  • Advanced proficiency in at least one programming language (JavaScript, Python, Kotlin, etc)
  • Dedication toward building stable, reliable, and resilient software
  • Openness to diverse perspectives and collaboration with varied approaches.
  • Confidence in sharing your knowledge in group settings and participating in healthy debate.
  • Ability to handle open ended problems and ambiguity

Typical tasks and responsibilities:

  • Commit code for a Python based web application using Django, Javascript, React, and other web related technologies
  • Participate in your team's on-call rotation and carry out tasks if alerted
  • Implement a new feature with accompanying unit, integration, and end to end testing to validate functionality
  • Debug an issue across a wide range of AWS tooling, including EKS, EC2, S3, SQS, EventBridge, DynamoDb to own and solve problems end to end
  • Review code in GitHub or pair program in a Slack Huddle to upskill team members and maintain quality standards
  • Join Zoom calls for various agile ceremonies such as sprint plannings, backlog refinements, board replenishments or similar to incrementally deliver solutions in fixed intervals.
