Counter Sales personnel assist our internal and external customers by providing a high level of customer service in finding solutions to their material needs. Most customer interactions will be at the counter, on the telephone, and through email. Focus is on cultivating customer relationships while exceeding sales and profit goals.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Assist customer at the Sales and Will-Call counters.
- Answer incoming customer calls. Return missed calls, voicemails, and emails in a timely fashion.
- Provide and maintain a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Create sales orders and bids for new business.
- Create accurate purchase orders as needed to fulfill material requests.
- Address pricing issues and material returns in a timely manner.
- Support the Outside Sales and Counter Sales teams with all related activities.
- Pull products from the warehouse to fulfill orders.
- Work with customers to quickly resolve any customer service issues.
- Identify customer product needs and coordinate quotation and delivery.
- Build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors, and co-workers.
- Perform other reasonably related duties and tasks as required by Management.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 or more years of Counter or Inside Sales experience in related industrial sales field (Plumbing, HVAC, PVF, Electrical, Utility Underground, etc.).
- Must be 18 years old.
- Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers and common fractions or decimals.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Bi-lingual is a plus.
- Eclipse ERP Software experience is a plus.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Must pass pre-employment background screening.
- Verification of citizenship or work authorization status.
Work Environment
- This role requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment which may be heavy (50+ pounds).
- Typically, in a comfortable environment, but with regular exposure to a warehouse environment with factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes. Often exposure to outdoor weather and with no climate control within the warehouse. The company may stock and sell hazardous materials such as pvc cement, chemicals, torch gas, solvents, propane gas, etc. You may be required to handle these materials as part of the role.
