AARP’s Office of Chief of Staff keeps AARP operating and informed on a day-to-day basis. The staff works closely with the CEO and other E-Team members to provide leadership and direction to make strategic decisions.

Are you a creative, passionate, and results-driven student interested in communications, graphic design, and art? The Employee Communications Team is looking for you! Our team is the internal voice for news, tools, insights, and connections that help employees and other key audiences understand and fulfill AARP's mission. We bring the organization and mission to life in a way that inspires and engages leaders, staff, and other key audiences. We'll challenge you to develop creative and innovative approaches to our special projects. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of Summer 2024, with the possibility of extending additional semesters.

Responsibilities

  • Apply creative thinking to help promote internal communications channels
  • Assist Employee Communications Advisors as needed
  • Research and gather information for Executive Team members
  • Collaborate in communications tactics and engage in a support role as needed

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college pursuing a degree in graphic arts, communications, marketing, journalism, or other related fields
  • Must be a self-starter and adaptable, with the ability to work under tight deadlines 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work priorities
  • Ability to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientation
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs 
  • Familiarity with multiple social media platforms is a plus

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories. 

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates. Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
