Job Summary:

The Trainee SOC Monitoring Analyst will work alongside experienced cybersecurity professionals to learn and execute tasks related to monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents across the organization's network infrastructure. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to develop foundational skills in SOC operations, with a focus on infrastructure, server availability, website monitoring, DNS, and SSL/TLS security.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist in monitoring the availability and performance of network infrastructure, including servers, routers, and switches.
  2. Learn to identify and respond to server up/down alerts and performance anomalies.
  3. Participate in website monitoring activities to ensure availability, integrity, and confidentiality.
  4. Assist in monitoring DNS (Domain Name System) activities, including resolution requests and responses, to detect and mitigate potential threats.
  5. Learn to analyze SSL/TLS certificates for expiration, vulnerabilities, and misconfigurations.
  6. Support senior analysts in investigating security incidents related to infrastructure, server availability, website compromises, DNS attacks, and SSL/TLS vulnerabilities.
  7. Collaborate with other SOC team members to escalate and remediate security incidents in a timely manner.
  8. Assist in the documentation of monitoring procedures, incident reports, and response activities.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  2. Basic understanding of networking concepts, server infrastructure, and web technologies.
  3. Familiarity with DNS fundamentals and SSL/TLS encryption protocols.
  4. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  5. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  6. Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and security concepts.
  7. Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (desired but not required).
