Internship: Wireless Communications Engineering

The next generation mobile networks are increasingly difficult to test with respect to signal quality, sensitivity, and dynamic switching performance. Especially for communication systems, simple RF tests will not be sufficient to measure these parameters. That’s why NI develops sophisticated test and measurement hard- and software for the future 5G and 6G communication systems.

In your internship, you will be part of one of our product development or research teams and contribute to the success of the projects. We offer a very broad range of assignments you can work on. Please select one of them which is most appealing to you depending on your background, skills, and aspirations:

Tasks in Research

  • Prototyping of 6G wireless systems with focus on Machine Learning techniques
  • Prototyping distributed test and measurement applications with cloud technologies
  • Prototyping and testing of full-duplex communication and joint communication and sensing

Tasks in Product Development

  • Driver development for our Software Defined Radios (USRPs)
  • Test creation for the 3GPP 5G NR mobile radio standard
  • Development of RF measurements for hardware components
  • Board-level hardware development support for RF products
  • Prototype toolflow for augmented reality-supported hardware board debugging
  • HDL design in the field of communication or radar
