• This opportunity is a Hardware Design Engineer role within the Medical Device industry.**

Description:

• Designs general digital and analog electronics including power circuits, conforming to applicable IEC 60601 standards.
• Develops and maintains comprehensive design documentation in accordance with quality system requirements.
• Participates in all phases of the product development lifecycle.
• Designs and develops prototypes for future features and products.
• Plans and participate in the execution of safety and performance testing to satisfy applicable standards (e.g., EMC testing according to IEC 60601-1-2).
• Actively collaborates with embedded software developers on hardware/firmware integration and test engineering on verification activities (hardware and software).
• Maintains existing electronic designs to comply with the latest standards and address component obsolescence.
• Supports the production and service teams by assisting with the resolution of technical issues encountered as well as by establishing effective testing and test benches.
• Prepares engineering change requests and change orders.
• Participates in design review process.
• Interfaces with partners, suppliers, and subcontractors to address technical issues and requirements.
• Provides technical leadership to junior team members including co-op students.
• Considers quality in all aspects of the job and respects procedures and norms.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of experience with Circuit design, schematic capture PCB layout
• ECAD Tools: Altium or OrCAD
• 6+ years of regulated industry (pharma/medical is strongly preferred, aerospace or automotive as well)
• Knowledge of the following standards: IEC 60601, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 62304.
• Need to know what design controls are and review processes
• Experience with testing tools e.g. logic analyzers, microcontroller debuggers, oscilloscopes
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical/computer engineering or related field.
• Experience with revision control systems (e.g., Git/Gitlab).
• Strong fundamental knowledge of mixed-signal circuits and multi-layer PCB design.
• Strong understanding of complex integrated electro-mechanical systems and embedded software.
