Job Description:

Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Project Engineer to join its team located at the Mount Clemens Mi. Manufacturing Plant.

Essential Functions:

  • Work with site engineering & maintenance resources to develop project scope and objectives.
  • Follow project front end loading process and identify project phases and design requirements.
  • Develop front end loading (FEL) of capital projects and facilitate the approval process through implementation and final financial closure of projects.
  • Oversee project budgets up to $1 Million USD with monthly financial reports as required by SOX
  • Responsible for Quality Assurance package for every project
  • Construction Management for primarily facilities, roads & grounds, utilities, parking lots, etc.
  • Review engineering construction packages for completeness and constructability, and ensured they followed all standards and required specification
  • Develop project estimates including equipment, construction and commissioning cost.
  • Perform project financial analysis.
  • Provide leadership to bring the project through the approval process.
  • Coordinate project Mechanical, Process & Electrical design with in-house and contracted resources.
  • Communicate with multiple departments for scheduling/coordinating project start/completion dates
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems.
  • Control project plan by reviewing design, specifications, and adhering to the plan and schedule.
  • Control project costs by monitoring purchases, construction and commissioning costs.
  • Assist with providing daily construction management support.
  • Maintains project design and commissioning documentation.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor in Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
  • Work experience 2-5 years in manufacturing environment like chemicals, pharmaceuticals, biomaterial, medical devices, and materials industries
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking, including financial analysis / modeling to assess strategic options, and developing creative solutions to complex problems
  • Organized, detail oriented and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to effectively manage projects and timelines to meet schedules is required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate at all levels and across the organization.
  • Experience in developing business cases and high-level program implementation plans including milestones and progress measurement
