Department Description
The UCSF ECG Monitoring Research Lab and the Center for Physiologic Research (CPR) are housed in the School of Nursing and consists of a multidisciplinary team of researchers with expertise in electrocardiology, physiological monitoring, critical and acute care nursing science, cardiology, data science and biomedical engineering. The ECG Monitoring Research Lab and the CPR manage an exceptionally large ECG and physiologic (vital signs) clinical database mainly collected from UCSF adult bedside and telemetry unit monitors and supports research to identify specific predictors of adverse patient outcomes, reduce false alarm rates, and improve ECG and physiologic monitoring systems. The strategic directions of the research labs include expanding the critical mass of researchers with expertise in ECG and physiologic monitoring, further optimizing the clinical data stewarded to significantly impact healthcare delivery in acute care settings.
