Information about the position 

In the Seller domain, we empower sellers with tools for success, encompassing various features designed to enhance their experience. Our team is focusing on paid features that improve visibility and convenience, such as item and wardrobe promotion.

Our cross-functional team includes engineers from several areas, including iOS, Android, Web, and QA, alongside a product manager, designer, and a decision scientist. We rely on AB testing to drive our product decisions.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll contribute to implementing business logic and APIs for our mobile and web platforms. You'll tackle technical challenges while expanding our backend platform for scalability to handle increasing loads.

In this position, you’ll 

  • Work with one of the biggest Ruby on Rails codebase in the world, MySQL, Redis, Go, Vespa, Apache Flink and more. (We do not anticipate familiarity with Ruby and other technologies; instead, we will provide you with time and support to acclimate to the language. Throughout the interview process, we will assess your proficiency in a backend language in which you feel most confident)
  • Shape features in an autonomous, cross-functional team environment
  • Apply Agile and Lean principles in your work
  • Collaborate with other developers through GitHub pull requests and code reviews
  • Write unit tests (RSpec) for all your code contributions. We have nearly 100% code coverage
  • Experience the immediate impact of your code on our 80+ million users
  • Break down large monoliths into smaller, manageable components and services
  • Craft code capable of handling more than 2M requests per minute
  • Monitor your deployed code through Kibana, Grafana, DataDog
  • Own SLIs/SLOs within the product team
  • Effectively partner across teams to prioritise and deliver results
  • Provide direct and impactful feedback to the team and larger functions and seek out feedback from other team members to grow

About you 

  • You should be willing to learn and master new technologies and concepts
  • You love to improve things, and if you see something that needs improvement, you bring it to the table
  • You are familiar with the following disciplines: Software Engineering, Distributed Systems, System Architecture, Service Oriented Architecture
  • You are capable of balancing product and technical efforts to enhance business value and improve the standards of our codebase.
  • You have strong proficiency in both written and spoken English
  • You take pleasure in working collaboratively with teammates

The salary range for this position is € 3,558 - € 6,725 gross per month.
