Position: Senior Engineer, Product Applications (San Jose, California)

Duties:

• Lead the evaluation of new DC-DC Converter integrated circuits (ICs) for Consumer Applications at every revision step to verify operation and compliance with system level specifications of Output Voltage Ripple, Efficiency, Stability, Protections, Mode Transitions, Load and Line regulation. Identify, Track and Discuss Issues with Design Engineers and recommend application specific modifications.
• Generate detailed evaluation reports to document and communicate issues to design and development team.
• Develop automation test plans for timely and effective evaluation of new ICs. Write drivers for instruments and automation scripts using Python.
• Collaborate with software engineers to develop a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for our ICs for ease of operation and evaluation by customers.
• Lead the development and testing of new evaluation boards for DC-DC Converters while coordinating and guiding the PCB layout engineers. Develop test plans and Conduct reviews with the team before releasing the boards to production.
• Conduct Detailed analysis of the control loop stability of the DC-DC Converters and help optimize the efficiency, thermal performance and stability based on Customer Use case.
• Lead the development of Product Datasheet along with design engineers. Write detailed description about operation of the part, selection of components for Typical customer use cases along with technical diagrams. Coordinate with Marketing and Sales to ensure timely product release.
• Provide technical support to customers and Field Applications and Sales Engineers on their project specific inquiries. Review their designs, schematic and layout. Provide guidance and in some cases complete design solutions to address customer requirements.
• Modeling and Simulation of the behavior of DC-DC Converters in SIMPLIS and verification with bench results.
• Create training materials and product demonstrations for Field Applications Engineers, Sales Engineers, and Customers for new products internally and externally.
• Write Application and Design notes for new products and new application solutions.

Requirements: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics Engineering or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus two (2) years of work experience in Electrical Engineering, Applications Engineering, or related occupation.

Must possess expertise/ knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/ knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/ knowledge cannot be "quantified" by "time."

Required expertise/ knowledge includes:

• Ability to use lab equipment such as oscilloscope, power supply, multimeters, electronic loads, spectrum analyzers, etc.;
• Control Loop Theory and Analysis for voltage regulators;
• Ability to write code (typically python) to automate testing;
• Board Level/ PCB schematic and layout design plus review;
• Data analysis using Microsoft Excel; and
• Extensive knowledge of power electronics topologies such as buck converters, boost converters, buck-boost converters, and LDO’s.

Salary: $141,440.00 - $182,390.00/year
