This role is based in New York or San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.

About the Role

  • Collaboration with Media Team: Work closely with the media team to understand their requirements and deliver a world-class media playback experience on iOS devices.
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage a familiarity with the iOS AVFoundation framework to enhance the quality and reliability of the media player. In this role you will need to develop the expertise required to fully own media quality on iOS.
  • Platform Support: Collaborate with the mobile platform team to provide support to iOS engineers, contributing to the overall success of Patreon’s iOS application.
  • Scaling Capabilities: Scale video and/or audio capabilities to meet the demands of a large user base, supporting millions of views per week.
  • Performance Optimization: Collect and analyze performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing optimizations to enhance the overall performance and reliability of media playback.

About You

  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
  • Proficiency with the Swift programming language.
  • Familiarity with the iOS AVFoundation framework is a plus.
  • A track record of scaling, improving quality, and increasing reliability of media consumption on iOS.
  • Strong understanding of optimization and performance issues on iOS.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
