Description

The Psychophysiological Core within the Center for Health Outcomes and Interdisciplinary Research (CHOIR) at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)/ Harvard Medical School is seeking a clinical-research and/or research post-doctoral fellow. The post-doctoral fellow will mainly assist on a federally funded grant focused on studying the neurobiological and biobehavioral mechanisms contributing to the development of chronic postsurgical pain across the lifespan, as well as a mechanistic clinical trial of a group behavioral intervention for people living with chronic postsurgical pain. Research methodologies used in this grant include pain psychophysics (i.e., Quantitative Sensory Testing), neuroimaging (i.e., fNIRS), biomarkers (i.e., stress hormones), and behavioral self-report measures.

Job Responsibilities and Standards of Performance

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to data collection, project management, data analysis, manuscript preparation, and assistance with grant preparation.

A successful candidate should have a strong demonstrated interest and experience in clinical research related to neuroimaging, pain science, and behavioral health (as evidenced by a strong emerging publication record). Priority will be given to candidates interested in developing their own research program and applying for a career development award in the field of pain science and/or behavioral health. This 1-year fellowship has the potential to lead to a second year of fellowship or a faculty position depending on the candidate’s ability to develop his or her own clinical research portfolio and collaborate on existing funded projects. For qualified applicants, there also may be the possibility to submit an NIH Diversity Supplement off the parent award.

The ideal start date is Summer or Fall 2024. Interested applicants should email a CV and cover letter to Dr. Christine Sieberg (CSIEBERG@mgh.harvard.edu). We are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer. More information about MGH CHOIR can be found here: https://www.mghchoir.com.
