As a Senior Business Controller, you will play a key role in analyzing operational data and KPIs to understand company performance by product, branch, and profitability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze operational data including sales, expenses, margins, and inventory turnover to assess the financial health of the company.
  • Define, track, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to retail operations, such as sales per square foot, inventory turnover rate, and gross margin percentage.
  • Evaluate the performance of individual products or product categories by analyzing sales trends, pricing strategies, and contribution margins.
  • Assess the performance of different branches or locations by comparing sales, expenses, and profitability metrics.
  • Analyze profitability at various levels, including product lines, branches, and overall company performance.
  • Assist in the development of budgets and forecasts based on historical data, market trends, and strategic objectives.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations summarizing key findings, insights, and recommendations for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as sales, marketing, and operations to gather data, understand business drivers, and align financial analysis with strategic goals.
  • Identify and assess financial risks associated with retail operations and develop strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging trends, and technological advancements in retail analytics.
  • Continuously refine and improve processes for data collection, analysis, and reporting to enhance decision-making capabilities.
  • Develop and implement budgeting strategies, collaborating with department heads to align financial plans with organizational goals.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, forecast future financial performance, and advise on risk management strategies.
  • Manage cash flow by monitoring and forecasting upcoming expenses and revenues, ensuring the organization maintains adequate liquidity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Proven experience (at least 4-5 years) as a Business Controller or similar role
  • Retail experience is a plus
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in financial software and MS Office Suite.
