To manage the integrity and provision of business financial, management and regulatory information to meet Executive management, corporate, statutory and regulatory requirements and maintain financial control and management.

Responsibilities:

In the area of Financial Reporting (GL), Operations (AP) and Investments, to:

Strategy and Planning

  • Budgeting and forecast exercises.

Policy, Process and Procedures

  • Oversee and manage relevant area of responsibility to ensure compliance with the appropriate statutory, legal and regulatory requirements, codes of conduct and best practice guidelines.
  • Monitor and review internal reporting processes to ensure they meet executive management, corporate, regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Resolve financial and/or management accounting and regulatory issues to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Support the development of financial systems and procedures to meet current and future financial accounting and reporting requirements in line with executive management and regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to the refinement of processes and procedures to improve financial accounting systems and procedures.
  • Manage internal controls over authorities and banking signatories to ensure continuous integrity of processes are maintained and adhered to (if applicable).

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders together with auditors, banking, regulators and rating agencies to understand their issues and determine their requirements.
  • Maintain regular communication with peers across QBE, as appropriate to ensure consistency, transfer of knowledge and promotion of best practice.

Technical Performance

  • Produce and submit all executive management reports, statutory reports, regulatory returns and Group finance reports in line with specified timescales to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
  • Continue to seek out improvements in system reporting and interpretation of results to enhance the financials.
  • Manage the production and delivery of reports on business performance and progress for Group, Board and stakeholder to support and inform decision making management and performance.
  • Provide support in sourcing and executing investment opportunities, liaising with Investee’s committee members, and ensuring that best financial and non-financial practices, including group treasury policy and investment policies are adhered to.
  • Cash flow management and assist in clearing bank reconciliation items.
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects as and when required by reporting manager

People Management

  • Manage a team of finance employees to ensure that the overall output and quality of the service provided by the team meets customer expectations and is within specified levels.
  • Motivate and develop the finance team so as to ensure the required standards of performance are met.
  • Provide technical expertise and mentoring to Finance Services Analysts and Specialists.
  • Support the general management and development of the Finance and Accounts department to ensure effective use of resources in line with business needs

Requirement :

  • 5+ years experience in an accounting role.
  • Work experience in a BPO/shared service environment is preferred or an advantage.
  • Proven post qualification experience within the insurance or Financial Services industry desirable.
  • Experience of networking/liaison with internal and external customers.
  • Professional accounting qualification.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the current statutory, legal and regulatory and Group requirements (IFRS 17 reporting experience will be advantageous).
  • Current best practice for financial management and reporting.
  • Good understanding of IT solutions to address finance accounting, regulatory and reporting issues.
