Your Role:
Tetra Tech is seeking a Junior- to mid-level Environmental or Chemical Engineer to provide technical assistance for climate change programs and initiatives that reduce methane emissions and other greenhouse gases (GHG) globally. The position requires technical knowledge and project experience related to detecting and quantifying methane emissions, methodologies and tools for estimating life cycle GHG emissions; developing GHG emission and reporting emission inventories to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC); measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) of GHG emissions; analysis of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) to reduce GHG emissions; and prefeasibility studies to identify methane mitigation opportunities in the biogas sector including wastewater, landfill, animal farming and agricultural waste sector.
The position involves working in a fast-paced team environment to support and meet the needs of multiple clients and projects. Responsibilities include identifying and reviewing current practices and methodologies used by developing countries to develop GHG inventories, developing and implementing country-specific Methane Action Plans, conduct desktop analyses to identify opportunities for methane emission reduction, provide technical assistance to develop policies and/or regulations to mitigate methane emissions from the biogas sector, organize and conduct technical training and capacity-building sessions for international audiences; engaging program partners to advance methane reduction; developing and implementing outreach activities; writing and preparing reports; researching and analyzing climate change policies, methane emissions data and mitigation initiatives. The position also requires working collaboratively on multi-disciplinary project teams, engaging and working directly with clients, leading and managing tasks, writing and editing reports and communications products, and identifying creative approaches and methods to accomplish client program objectives. This position provides significant opportunities for professional growth and increasing levels of responsibility and advancement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leveraging their technical experience to identify and lead projects under existing contracts, and pursuing new clients, contracts, and project opportunities. Ideal candidates will have some experience in business development activities, including identifying and developing project or service offerings, pitching new ideas and project concepts to clients, and turning ideas into full-scale projects. Ideal candidates also will have expertise and experience on the policies, methods and/or approaches for measuring and mitigating GHG emissions from various industry sources.

Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or or technical field, Masters degree preferred.
Physical Demands:
Candidate must be able to sit at a desk/computer and function in an office environment doing office-based tasks.
Work Environment:
Some domestic and international travel anticipated for 2-5 trips annually and typically 5-10 days maximum per trip.
