The Researcher performs laboratory tasks under direct supervision. The Researcher is expected to understand underlying concepts of experimental design and to implement these concepts under direct supervision.

The Mckinney-Freeman Laboratory in the Division of Experimental Hematology is seeking a highly motivated and talented Researcher with a passion for scientific research, excited about contributing to meaningful discoveries that can improve patient outcomes, and eager to learn and grow in a stimulating and collaborative environment.

What you’ll do:

• Conduct research using diverse techniques, including molecular biology, cell culture, and bioinformatics.
• Gain expertise in the field of blood cell development and disease.
• Contribute to a highly translational research environment with potential for real-world impact.
• Collaborate with a supportive and inspiring team from multiple laboratories in the Division.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform laboratory experiments as directed using specific and prescribed techniques/protocols.
• Follow basic protocols, implementing experimental techniques prescribed by supervisor and providing basic troubleshooting where appropriate.
• Accurately record experimental procedures and data.
• May draft results/data for posters, presentations or publications.
• Operate lab equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the goals of the department and institution.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.

Minimum Experience:

• No experience required.
• Although no post-degree experience is required, a competitive candidate will have experience in lab-based research outside of the classroom.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $24.00 - $42.00 per hour for the role of Researcher - Mckinney-Freeman Lab (Division of Experimental Hematology).
