We are seeking a Staff Accountant - Hybrid Remote (home/office) who demonstrates knowledge and experience in accounting, uses independence and judgement to recognize and resolve problems. This candidate should be very detail oriented, possess excellent organizational skills, and be able to demonstrate full ownership of their work. Employs routine processes and procedures related to work, but is often called upon to respond to non-routine situations. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works with general supervision.

This role will primarily work from home but candidates must be local to the Reno metro to handle routine tasks that require weekly office visits. 

Your Impact

Responsibilities will include:

  • Timely and competent completion of all assigned company license deliverables including strong documentation skills to comply with state and local government documentation and disclosure requirements.
  • Prepare account reconciliations of various tax related general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries for month end closing to support the Finance team
  • Provide account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts monthly
  • Provide support for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes as necessary
  • Filing All States business Licenses and Permits + Business Registrations (Including InInc) 
  • Perform monthly tax account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Support overall escheatment compliance process
  • Research, suggest, and where appropriate work with other departments and outside tax vendors in the implementation of strategic tax plans.
  • Keep abreast compliance changes as they relate to the company.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating tax department processes in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley Sec. 404 documentation requirements.
  • Providing supporting documents to Advantax for ACPL PPT filing (preparing asset list each year for 30+ states that requires PPT filing); because of different lien dates, this task is ongoing throughout the year
  • Organizing and mailing all PPT related mail to Advantax (weekly)
  • Scanning and distributing all non PPT related mail (weekly)

Minimum Qualifications

To be formally considered for the role, the following requirements must be met: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Two years of related accounting experience

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Must be comfortable with GL accounting, able to propose journal entries, and able to reconcile tax accounts as needed.
  • Demonstrate ability and willingness to learn and implement knowledge in work assignments and tasks.
  • Must be well organized with strong work ethic and excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Should be team oriented, energetic, and enthusiastic.
