Job Description

Location Profile:

Located in North Hollywood, CA, Avibank Manufacturing, Inc., a PCC Company, a part of the Engineered Products Group, is among the world's leading manufacturers specializing in the design and production of sophisticated fasteners and multi-component fastening systems and devices, solving difficult engineering and critical performance problems.

Position Summary:

The Mechanical Design Engineer is mathematically and mechanically minded with strong analytical and critical thinking abilities, possessing detailed knowledge of engineering and design principles and able to find creative solutions to technical problems. The Mechanical Design Engineer meets with external clients to determine design requirements, plans and executes the design of mechanical devices, develops and test prototypes, and works closely with the manufacturing teams to ensure that design specifications are met. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with clients and design teams to determine mechanical applications and requirements.
  • Conducting research to inform the design and engineering methods required for the mechanical systems.
  • Planning and executing mechanical designs using CAD, CAM, and 3D CAD programs.
  • Performing computer simulations and experiments to virtually test and refine the designs.
  • Overseeing the development and manufacturing of physical prototypes for testing.
  • Documenting the design process, iterations, and test analytics.
  • Managing project timelines, resources, and budgets.
  • Coordinating with internal and external clients, designers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure coherence.
  • Preparing technical reports, design specifications documents, and operational manuals.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a mechanical design engineer in the aerospace industry.
  • Proficiency with engineering design programs such as AutoCAD, Solidworks.

Level of Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • PE certification is preferred.
