Description
The Sheppard Pratt School - Glyndon is a year round program that offers students with emotional, behavioral, and intellectual disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, the low staff-to-student ratio and individual attention needed to help them thrive. The campus has a ropes course and two sensory rooms for students to use. In addition to our expansive grounds, each of our students has access to integrated technology in the classrooms for educational and recreational usage.
As an Educational Assistant you will:
- Provide additional structure, supervision, and instruction to assist the teacher in achieving the goals and objectives of the student's Individual Education Program (IEP)
- Work independently within the guidelines and direction of the supervising teacher providing educational support and behavior management
- Document student progress
- Serve as an escort to students during school or program activities
- Bachelor's prepared Educational Assistants may be responsible for leading classroom activities in the absence of the supervising teacher
Requirements:
- High school diploma; Bachelor's degree and experience working with individuals with autism/severe behavioral and academic issues strongly preferred.
- Work requires physical preparedness to effectively manage aggressive students.
