The Opportunity

Flock Safety is looking for the first Audio Quality Assurance Engineer. In this role, you will be instrumental in how we improve, build, and evaluate the audio quality of our current and future audio and camera products. The Audio Engineering team is responsible for understanding the audio challenges across multiple landscapes, and is responsible for ensuring excellent and consistent audio performance across our line of products. You will work across multiple teams to ensure both hardware and software audio quality with repeatable, high-quality audio measurements. 

This position is on-site in Tampere, Finland. 

The Skillset

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with at least 4 years of experience
  • Experience in hardware and software audio analysis, tooling, and testing
  • Knowledge and experience in managing audio laboratories
  • Proficiency in carrying out professional audio measurements
  • Understanding of acoustics and sound propagation principles
  • Knowledge of audio design principles and techniques
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation and audio test tool development
  • Experience with source control solutions such as Git
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple projects and teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

The First 30 Days

  • Learn more about Flock Safety Products and the current audio testing setup, requirements, and audio processing pipeline
  • Meet with cross-functional partners and start test execution

The First 60 Days 

  • Contribute to the audio quality assurance of current and future products
  • Create plans for hardware, software, and methods around audio testing

90 Days & Beyond 

  • Support R&D efforts for next-generation device development
  • Build simulation models to understand the audio challenges across urban environments

The Interview Process

  1. Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are. 
  2. The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field. 
  3. The Technical Assessment: Our technical assessments seek to test the hard skills required to do the job. Engineers may find themselves in coding interviews or architecture discussions, sales roles may present mock discovery calls, and leadership roles may craft 90 day plans. Your recruiter will inform you of which assessment you will be assigned and ensure you are fully prepared for your big day. 
  4. The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
