The Department / Team

  • The Data and Analytics (D&A) team is responsible for managing and packaging financial, operational, debt and other relevant analytic data and documents for use in ratings procedures. The team works closely with ratings analysts, and team members may interact with analysts on a regular basis.

Role/Responsibilities

Financial Data Analysts (FDA) have a significant input to the Ratings and Research process by analysing financial statements and data provided by Issuers. The team is regularly provided with valuable training classes and interactions with Rating analysts as part of knowledge transfer and career growth. The FDA position provides a unique opportunity to foster skills that are valuable to any future career in the financial services industry.

  • Possess accounting, capital market, knowledge and judgment to perform financial statement analysis published in Japanese language, adjust reported data per relevant methodology requirements
  • Perform ratio analysis, and present rationales for inconsistent ratios/metrics with in-depth research in the financial documents in Japanese language
  • Develop working knowledge of Moody’s rating methodologies, Accounting principles, Key ratios to generate qualitative Metrics and Scorecard
  • Frequently liaise with rating analysts and accounting specialists to understand the application of accounting concepts & treatment on disclosure in financial statement
  • Regularly interact with Moody's ratings analysts regarding financial and operational data needed for analysis and publications

Qualifications

  • Minimum graduate degree: specializations in Accounting, Finance, or Economics preferred
  • Certified Japanese language specialist (JLPT: N3 and above)
  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience required
  • Advance understanding of various company filings (Annual reports, Investor Presentations, Solvency reports) and should be comfortable with secondary research
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and particularly Excel, such as pivot tables, lookups, etc.
  • Individual must be organized, dependable, able to multi-task, manage priorities, display initiative, can work independently in a demanding and fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, communication (verbal & written), and interpersonal skills are required
  • Candidate must have the ability to quickly transition as priorities change to meet demands
