The University of Alabama Golf Facility is looking for an Agronomy Intern!

Summary

You will work closely with the Director of Agronomy, Assistant Superintendents and an amazing core staff that works and plays together in one of the best places in the world to do so. You will go through a series of work / training sessions as we build up toward the end of the season where you will be responsible for running the operation for one full week. Training sessions include golf course set up, irrigation management and hand-watering, fertilizer and spray applications, staff and inter-departmental communications, equipment set up and troubleshooting, weekly planning, budgeting, resume writing and mock interviews and networking with industry professionals. Once you finish your time here, you will have a solid foundation in all aspects of the maintenance operations and will know just what it takes to make the jump to Assistant and eventually Superintendent.

This is an intern opportunity for a student enrolled in a two or four year turf program. Candidate will be involved in all areas of golf maintenance. There is also an opportunity to help out as needed with the grounds department for the University of Alabama Athletic fields.

The golf course (Champions Reserve) is currently under. construction with a proposed openning of September 2024. Housing will be an option once renovations are made to the on-site house. There are multiple intern opportunities and we are open to hosting at all times of the year.

Education/Experience:

  • Enrolled in a 2 or 4 year turfgrass management or related program
  • Golf course maintenance or related experience preferred but not required

Special Requirements:

  • Willing and able to work outside in varied weather conditions
  • Must be a team player
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
