The Opportunity

We are looking for a Supply Chain Intern to help develop and drive supply base strategy, sourcing, readiness, and production execution for Astra! You will interface with Global Supply Managers, Production, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Cross-Functional Stakeholders to plan and forecast to meet overall program initiatives.

How You’ll Fulfill Your Mission

  • Develop and execute supply base strategy through understanding of the technologies and industrial markets.
  • Create sourcing strategies through total cost of ownership analysis including benchmarking, make vs buy, and should cost analysis. Optimize the supply chain to improve quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Identify supply/demand challenges, analyze market conditions, be up to date with technology trends and identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and help drive the vendor selection process.
  • Establish, track and report on metrics for success to ensure suppliers meet targets efficiently. Key metrics include schedule, cost, quality, throughput, cycle time, and yield.
  • Evaluate business proposals and present recommendations that will lower program risk, result in cost avoidance or savings.
  • Communicate program readiness and risks to key stakeholders.

Desired Multipliers

  • Prior internship experience or academic projects related to supply chain management, procurement, sourcing, material planning, etc.
  • Understanding or knowledge of MRP and/or ERP systems
  • You are comfortable with data processing tools ranging from Excel to custom scripts built with VBA, Python, MATLAB, etc.

ITAR Requirements: This position requires compliance with U.S. Government space technology trade restrictions, specifically the International Trafficking in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and additional regulations governing satellite, launch vehicle, missile, and other related technologies. All jobs restricted by these regulations will be contingent upon the applicant’s status as a documented U.S. Person or their ability to receive a trade license from the cognizant government agency; in addition to any required company background checks and in compliance with applicable U.S. and California laws. Similarly, positions requiring the ability to work on government contracts or a security clearance are also contingent upon the applicants ability to receive the appropriate clearance and be allowed to work on U.S. government contracts.
