The Opportunity:

Shutterstock is currently seeking a detail-oriented finance professional to assume the role of Credit and Collections Specialist. In this critical position, you will manage a diverse portfolio of clients and business units, employing direct customer engagement and cross-functional collaboration to address outstanding balances and payment discrepancies. Additionally, you will take charge of preparing comprehensive reconciliation analyses and reports, including daily cash reports, business unit and customer-level DSO, and delinquency account analyses.

The day to day: 

  • Act as a key support member for the team, overseeing accounts receivable for a portfolio of business units and customers. Your objective will be to enhance cash collections and reduce past due balances globally. 
  • Implement a proactive and systematic approach to collections, involving direct customer engagement and collaborative efforts with cross-functional stakeholders. This includes resolving delinquencies and employing effective tactics to address outstanding balances. 
  • Tackle complicated account reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve financial discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and completeness in financial records. 
  • Identify trends, conduct root cause analysis, and propose process enhancements to remove operational barriers that may impede timely payments. 
  • Prepare comprehensive Credit and Collections management reports, along with KPIs and audit schedules. 
  • Participate in quarterly and year-end audits, ensuring adherence to statutory compliance and administering key financial controls, including Sarbanes Oxley. 
  • Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders, fostering continued revenue growth and identifying new opportunities.

What you will bring to the role: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration OR significant relevant experience. 
  • Demonstrated tenure of prior Accounts Receivable/Business-to-Business collections experience. 
  • Fluency in English with proficiency in Spanish preferable. 
  • Experience with ERP solutions and financial reporting systems, with a working knowledge of accounts receivable-related accounting concepts. 
  • Intermediate Excel skills. 
  • Proficiency in analyzing, investigating, and validating data across various systems and applications. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis on customer contact, financial statements analysis, and crisis management. 
  • Self-motivated and data-driven, capable of collaborating effectively with diverse perspectives and backgrounds to negotiate positive outcomes. 

Bonus Skills: 

  • Proficiency in Spanish
