Biweekly Hours: 8.00

Shift: 7am to 3:30pm or 1:30pm to 10:00pm

Summary:

Performs both technical and professional duties supporting the pharmacy practice while under close supervision, in the presence of a pharmacist, and in accordance with Ohio Pharmacy regulations. Dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies while following acceptable pharmacy practice standards. Fulfills the clinical responsibilities of a pharmacist while under the direct guidance and supervision of a pharmacist. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

Qualifications:

Required: 18 years of age or older with no felony convictions, per Ohio Revised Code 4729.42.

Meets one of the following:

  • Enrolled in an American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) accredited college of Pharmacy.
  • Enrolled in an ACPE accredited college or pre-pharmacy college, AND pursuing coursework pertaining to the requirements for a pharmacy licensure.

Meets one of the following:

  • Has a current/active Pharmacy Intern license for the State of Ohio that is in good standing, and maintains this license during the full duration of employment.
  • Current/active Certified Pharmacy Technician from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), OR possess an Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) Certification from the National Healthcareer Association.

Maintains certification throughout the course of employment, AND o Registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, OR obtains within 90 days of hire.

Maintains registration throughout the course of employment.

  • Is able to obtain either a Pharmacy Intern license for the State of Ohio OR becomes certified and registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy within 6 weeks of hire. Willing and able to work major holidays on a rotating schedule.

Physical Requirements:

May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.

May need to sit or stand for extended periods.

See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.

Ability to use computer.

Ability to communicate in face-to-face, phone, email, and other communications.

Requires some exposure to chemicals.
