Position Summary

The Atlanta Falcons Social Media Manager will serve as the social account manager and key contributor for the Atlanta Falcons digital team, specifically the Atlanta Falcons Social Media vertical. This person will carry out the Falcons online tone, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all published social content. They will serve as the main publisher of Atlanta Falcons social media content. In addition to being the lead social publisher, this person will also support influencer campaign across the organization as they relate to social media. This role will work to push the boundaries of the Atlanta Falcons share of voice online and push content to where the organization has never been before.

The Social Media Manager must have a high sports acumen and seasoned experience in media. Previous sports experience, day-to-day account management, and a positive digital footprint is essential in order to be considered. This position will report to the Atlanta Falcons Senior Manager, Social Media, who oversees the social team. The Social Media Manager will also work alongside a Social Media Specialist and Social Content Creator.

This role is based in Flowery Branch, GA.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary publisher for the Atlanta Falcons social team, including but not limited to Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok
  • Create social copy and proofread to a high standard to ensure content is in line with the editorial team’s style and tone
  • Ensure the Atlanta Falcons are participating in social trends while maintaining brand authenticity to the team, city and culture
  • Leverage social listening tools to report on fan sentiment during key moments and key learnings
  • Clearly communicate and report back on content strategies and optimizations to digital staff
  • Collaborate with in-house digital team, Social Content Creator to optimize creative assets needed for social distribution
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager, Social Media on long-term social calendar
  • Collaborate closely with members of the Atlanta Falcons Marketing and Community Relations team to ensure the Atlanta Falcons entire digital ecosystem is messaging points effectively
  • Provide guidance to auxiliary accounts: FalconsFits, Freddie Falcon, Falcons Local
  • Work closelye with the Senior Manager, Social Media on key influencer marketing campaigns that have strong ties to the social vertical
  • Manage and inspire other social media team members; creating an environment where they can do their best work
  • Regularly write and publish new content on nights, weekends and holidays
  • Serve on Falcons Digital managers meetings

Skills and Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in social content creation and social content strategy
  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications, or similar field
  • Must have hands-on social media experience in sports or similar background
  • Deep understanding of social media platforms and social management tools. Knowledge of paid digital media is a bonus, but not required
  • Portfolio that demonstrates a creative and diverse approach to storytelling on social platforms
  • Proven organization and project management skills; able to flawlessly juggle multiple balls at once
  • Record of highly visible deadlines, online moments and projects
  • Extensive sports and football acumen
  • Passionate about telling great stories with a high attention to detail and accuracy
  • High grammatical proficiency
  • Availability to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays as needed
  • Though this position won’t have 100% travel, candidate must have availability to travel when needed
  • Ability to multitask and manage various projects and the goals of multiple departments
  • Must be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under public pressures
  • Comfortable working in a matrixed organization across media, marketing, community, sponsorship, PR, and football operations
  • Team player who thrives in projects that involve multiple stakeholders
  • Experience using social media platforms
