Position Summary

Avantax is seeking a Senior Marketing Data Analyst to be the catalyst for transforming our digital marketing strategy. This position will help answer questions like: How do different audience segments interact with Avantax? Which marketing channels are the most effective, what impact do our marketing campaigns have, and how can we optimize them?

This position will be a thought partner for responsible growth initiatives, using advanced data skills to help marketing teams make more data-informed, insight-led decisions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Expertise working in an analytical-type role, interpreting, manipulating, and transforming data.
  • Interpret insights from often complex and disparate business results into a cohesive and actionable business recommendation.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and problem-solving skills to help find adequate solutions to questions.
  • Self-driven, able to effectively work on projects independently, possess the ability to display good independent judgment and use strong time-management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Ensure marketing and sales data is regularly updated and analyze data to bring out key insights.
  • Using and promoting data-exploration techniques to discover new and unasked questions.
  • Partner with the Sales Operations team to ensure target lists are verified and deployed for use.
  • Be hands-on in the CRM platform when needed, including set-up and deployment of campaigns and journeys, segmenting data, building lists, and monitoring results.
  • Verify and add data lists into campaigns from third parties.
  • Transform data into a digestible and presentable story based on the audience and confidently and effectively communicate that information with a wide range of audiences.
  • Develop deep expertise in our marketing data ecosystem, marketing metrics, data, and processes (e.g., website, CRM, paid media, marketing automation systems).
  • Identify gaps in data that prevent us from effectively generating demand across groups and pipelines.
  • Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting for leadership.
  • Determine, design, and implement automated reports and dashboards to help us understand the effectiveness of our lead-generation efforts while also focusing on improving marketing KPIs.
  • Evaluate ongoing marketing performance against marketing targets.
  • Collaborate and build credibility with the sales team, staying up to date on new initiatives and working to understand their data and reporting needs while providing guidance on best practices.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the wealth management industry, including market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory environment.
  • Streamline processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness, including sales forecasting, pipeline management, and sales performance analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in Marketing and/or Sales Operations experience (or similar roles and/or responsibilities.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Experience with Excel.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task, prioritize, and quickly change priorities.
  • Solid understanding of sales cycles, pipelines, and activity management.
  • Hands-on execution experience with CRM, specifically Salesforce and Tableau.
  • Strong graphics and visualization. Ability to convey messages simply.
  • Experience using SQL and Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a plus.

Base Salary Range:

$80,000 - $113,000; Variable incentive compensation eligible.

The salary range shown is representative of what Avantax expects to pay for this job. Actual salary may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location.
