Firmware Engineer (Shelton, CT)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Designs and develops firmware applications and drivers in Embedded Linux and/or Embedded Window environment. 
  • Participates in product architecture, design, development and deployment 
  • Involved in product from inception through launch, interacting with early users, understanding customer needs, and driving solutions to meet or exceed expectations 
  • Develops time estimates for project tasks and reports regularly on progress 
  • Investigates and debugs complex system problems and drives engineering solutions to improve or correct product or process issues. 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree (masters preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years of related knowledge and experience with Firmware apps and driver development. 
  • Familiar and experienced with Embedded RTOS design 
  • Good understanding of data communications. 
  • Role is on site in Shelton, CT

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Experience in C/C++ and other higher level languages a plus 
  • Experience with modern development tools (IDEs): Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc.. 
  • Experience with Linux 
  • Demonstrated understanding of VHDL with FPGA & CPLD 
  • Experience with communication interfaces (USB, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, etc.) 
  • Experience with motion control, sensors, motors, encoders, vision systems a plus. 
  • Familiar with digital tools like logic analyzer 
  • Understanding of digital hardware and hardware concepts 
  • Comfortable with software that is working closely with and controlling hardware. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of good software design practices, revision control, understanding of design for manufacturing, design for test, and design for reliability 
  • Positive attitude, high energy, leadership, project management and troubleshooting skills 
  • Hands on engineer with good communication (written and oral) skills and likes to solve problems and work issues on the production floor as well as in the engineering lab 

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $95,000 to $143,000. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
