Who You Are

As an intern at Sila, you will gain valuable exposure to many parts of our business, such as battery operations, manufacturing operations, engineering, data science, research and much more. Let’s electrify our world together!

Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Complete technical EHS&S tasks end-to-end and provide tactical support when needed to drive toward shared team success.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, improvement, and support for EHS&S policies, standards, work instructions, & training materials for needed programs such as: waste management, industrial hygiene, isolation of hazardous energy, confined space entry, work at heights, electrical safety, personal protective equipment, and hot work.
  • Lead a technical project from start to finish while incorporating guidance from your mentor, manager, and peers.
  • Assist with or shadow employee exposure monitoring studies, internal audits, onsite training, and event investigation within training and qualification limits as required.
  • Shadow members of EHS&S Department in Safety Teams, Committees & Councils as assigned.
  • Accurately maintains EHS&S documents, records, and data in a consistent and repeatable manner.
  • Accurately research and analyze relevant regulations, codes, and standards to help guide Sila’s compliance efforts.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements 

  • Currently pursuing a BA/BS Degree or higher in Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or similar field and returning to the program after the completion of the internship.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Passion for the environment and keeping people healthy and safe at work.
  • Desire to learn and adapt in new environments.
  • Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
  • Excellent documentation abilities.
  • Desire to learn and use varying tools and technologies.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Required to work onsite for a majority of their internship to cultivate hands-on skill building and learning. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times, 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be comfortable in manufacturing and laboratory environments.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment when required and exercise compliance with safety procedures.
  • Able to move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally kneel or bend.

Regular Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm

Start date is June 10, 2024

The starting base pay for this role is between $25/hr and $34/hr at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, and equity. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for overtime.
